Choosing the right mattress can have a serious influence on our quality of life. That is because a good mattress keeps away back pains and lets us have a relaxed and uninterrupted night of sleep. The German consumer organisation Stiftung Warentest has tested eleven different mattresses. They wanted to find out which mattresses are the most long-lasting, comfortable and healthy ones. The winner was not actually the most expensive mattress but rather one of the cheaper options.
The eleven tested mattresses ranged from 320 to 500 Euros and were all 90x200cm. The most important criteria for determining the quality of the mattress were the comfort and health properties as these are the things a potential buyer will be looking out for the most. To determine a mattress’ durability Stiftung Warentest stated that the mattress should not sag in the middle after 10 years of use. If after these years the sleep comfort was compromised and the body wasn’t supported adequately anymore then the mattress scored badly.
At the end of the test series, a mattress that cost 350 Euros won. It is not the first time that Stiftung Warentest showed that a mattress’ quality is not necessarily linked to its price and they are also not the first organisation to uncover a discrepancy in mattress prices and quality.
